Overview
Sakana is a local restaurant located in Reno, NV that specializes in sushi and Japanese cuisine. Sakana is a literal translation of "fish" in Japanese. The logo is drawn in black brush strokes with bright red-orange color. This was a full branding project that included multiple menus, social media launching, print/digital ads, branded uniforms, hats, chopstick sleeves, business cards and food photography.

The heart of the restaurant is the open sushi bar, where chefs prepare and serve sushi to customers. I wanted this space to pop and become the centerpiece of the room. To highlight it, I created a bold design using white lettering in both English and Japanese, spelling out all the fish types Sakana proudly serves. Once the design was set in Illustrator, I printed large stencils, climbed up a ladder, and painted the lettering by hand in white.
